Do you struggle with your weight loss journey? Do you lose track of your fitness goals and have to keep starting again? Most women lose their weight loss or physical fitness journey because their motivation is external validation, which is never motivation enough to keep them putting in the work. What then is the secret to lasting motivation, to put in the work to either lose that weight or stay the course of your fitness journey?

How about honouring your body as the temple of the Holy Spirit in which he guides you to fulfill your God given purpose? That creates lasting motivation and true confidence.

I have been a fitness lover for years. I am a slender body person and I have never had to struggle with weight. No wonder every time I go to the gym, people ask me why I'm there. My motivation has always been that I want my body to serve me for my purpose effectively. Being a proactive person, I love to have my energy levels high and working out helps me with that. I also love to maintain a weight that I am comfortable to carry. Thinking of my body as a vehicle that needs to be taken good care of so that it can function ably as I serve my purpose is what has given me endurance over the years in the fitness game. Yes, sometimes I take long breaks without intense workouts, like going to the gym, but it's ingrained in me to regularly move into exercise, even if it is just taking regular walks after work or an early morning jog.

The problem with letting other people's opinions guide how you care for your body is that you will struggle with having to meet unrealistic expectations that don't meet your body's actual needs, and this in turn kills your consistency. On the other hand, if you focus on honing your body to serve the purpose God has for you, making choices to nurture and care for it out of love and respect and not fear and seeking validation, you will develop a commitment to your health and fitness goals that brings lasting change.

Memo: God doesn't love you because of how you look. Rather, you are valuable to Him in every shape and size. He loves you regardless of your size and he wants you to be in a well functioning body to serve your purpose.
